Prep Time

The prep time for this recipe is minimal. You can have the squares made and ready to eat in under 30 minutes.

Cook Time

There is no actual cooking involved in this recipe, but you will need to melt the marshmallows and butter together on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Equipment

  2. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract (if using).
  3. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and stir until well coated.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch pan and press down firmly with a spatula to create an even layer.
  5. Allow the squares to cool and set for at least 30 minutes before cutting into individual portions.
