Method

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked rice and cook until it is tender. Drain the rice and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan and add cumin seeds. When they start to splutter, add chopped onions, ginger, and garlic. Saute until onions turn translucent.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  5. Add mixed vegetables, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add the cooked rice to the pan with the vegetables. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
