Recipe Tips

To ensure that the turkey is cooked evenly, baste it with the pan juices every 30 minutes. You can also use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the turkey. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh, without touching the bone. If the turkey starts to brown too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil. Serve the turkey with a side of Puerto Rican rice and beans, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables. Leftover turkey can be used in sandwiches, salads, or soups.
