- 1 pound black beans

- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil

- Soak the black beans in water overnight or for at least 8 hours. Drain and rinse the beans.
