- Tongs
- Spatula
Method
- In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Add the sliced steak to the bowl and toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 1 hour in the fridge.
- Cook the rice according to package instructions or in a rice cooker.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the vegetable oil and swirl to coat the pan.
- Using tongs, remove the steak from the marinade and add it to the hot pan. Reserve the marinade.
- Cook the steak for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the steak from the pan and set aside on a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the reserved marinade to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
- Return the steak to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Serve the steak over the rice, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions (if using).
Notes
- If you don't have a rice cooker, you can cook the rice in a pot on the stove. Simply bring the water to a boil, add the rice, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is fluffy.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, you can add more red pepper flakes or even some sriracha to the marinade or sauce.
- This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to feed a larger crowd.
