Method
- Wash the toor dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Chop the onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and green chilies.
- Heat the pressure cooker and add the soaked dal with 3 cups of water, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, grated ginger, chopped garlic, chopped green chilies, and turmeric powder.
- Cook the dal mixture in the pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked thoroughly.
- Once the pressure is released from the pressure cooker, mash the dal with a wooden spoon.
- Heat a frying pan and add vegetable oil.
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds.
- Add the mashed dal to the frying pan and mix well.
- Add salt to taste and ghee to the dal mixture and stir well.
- Serve hot with rice.
