Ingredients

Method

Pour a ladleful of batter on the tava and spread it in a circular motion to make a thick pancake. 7. Sprinkle some cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida on top of the pancake. 8. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges of the pancake. 9. Cook the pancake on medium flame for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom turns golden brown. 10. Flip the pancake using a spatula and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes. 11. Transfer the uttapam to a plate. 12. Repeat the process with the remaining batter. 13. Serve hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar.

Notes

  • Make sure the batter is lump-free and smooth.
  • Do not spread the batter too thin; it should be thick like a pancake.
  • You can add any vegetables of your choice to the batter.
  • Make sure the tava is hot before pouring the batter.
  • Flip the pancake carefully using a spatula to avoid breaking it.
