Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 4 cups water

  • 1/4 cup raisins

Method

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and slowly add the rice powder while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  3. Cook the rice powder mixture on low heat for 10-15 minutes until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  4. While the rice powder mixture is cooking, in another pan, heat the ghee on medium heat.
  5. Once the ghee is hot, add the chopped cashew nuts and raisins and saute until the cashews turn golden brown and the raisins puff up.
  6. Add the sugar to the rice powder mixture and stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
  7. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Add the sauteed cashew nuts and raisins to the rice powder mixture and mix well.
  9. Cook the mixture on low heat for another 10-15 minutes until it thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  10. Once the mixture thickens and forms a halwa-like consistency, turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  11. Transfer the rice powder halwa to a greased plate and let it cool completely.
  12. Cut the halwa into desired shapes and serve.

  • You can adjust the amount of sugar to suit your taste preferences.
  • Make sure to stir the rice powder mixture continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Add a pinch of food color to give the halwa a vibrant look.
